If this pan becomes clogged with debris mold or even algae it could overflow and create a puddle around your pump.

Why would a condensate pump line into a drain be a problem when the pump has a check valve which allows no back leakage of gas or water and if the drain ever clogged it would back up either way anyhow reply.
If the drain line gets clogged or the condensate pan is set improperly the water will run over and cause a leak.
